Clove Hitch

The Clove Hitch is a relative to the Munter Hitch. But compared with the Munter Hitch, the Clove Hitch is a static knot, e.g. used to fix a rope in a carabiner.
Some say it's one of the most popular and useful knots, not only for climbers.

As for myself, I appreciate the Clove Hitch in alpine climbing. I use this knot to fix myself at a belay station. This method is much more flexible than using a sling.
